Schools named winners for Kick Around Australia celebrations

10 SCHOOLS have been recognised by the AFL for their creative Kick Around Australia celebrations, which took place on August 7 this year.

The schools were each awarded a prize because of the interesting and creative way they chose to celebrate the day, which marked 150 years since the first recorded football match was played.

Winners’ activities included whole school kicking competitions, teacher verses students footy matches and footy parades.

Kick Around Australia day events were held across the country on August 7, with footy fans everywhere joining in the celebrations and wearing their team’s colours to work or school and having a kick of the footy on the day.

Each school will be presented with Australian Football 150 Years memorabilia, as well as a football training kit.
